When you login to your QBank, it directly takes you to the create test page with all the popular test parameters preset for you. All you need to do is click the "Create Test" button and your test is launched.
CanadaQBank gives you the opportunity to challenge yourself against other users by taking tests in timed mode. Your results will reveal how well you performed when compared to all users who took tests with a similar combination of questions.
CanadaQBank has created a feature within each MCQ that allows you to place the selected question in a separate section for future reference and revision. This feature is called "My Questions" and with it you can add a particular MCQ to your selected list of questions that can be reviewed at a later stage.
You can add your own notes inside each MCQ and review them at a later stage. This makes the learning process more interesting and allows you to review your own notes during revisions.
In fact you can take the "notes" feature one step further. Create your notes within the MCQ and then add the MCQ to the "My Questions" section. These questions with notes can be reviewed on a separate section of the user interface. This creates a highly impressive overall customization and greatly enhances your quality of learning.
Everybody has to start somewhere. Perhaps you are a medical student starting your preparation early or a well experienced physician who has lost touch with academics. You can now start with the "Easy" level of questions and then gradually work your way up to the "Medium" and "Hard" difficulty levels.
Learning moods will vary from time to time. Which means that you may need to introduce variety into your learning regimen. So rather than using the typical test mode, you can use the "topics mode" and master one topic at a time. The ultimate goal is to keeping moving forward regardless of your learning style. The topics mode helps you move ahead one small step at a time.
The USMLE Step 1 is the first examination you'll write out of three in your quest to practice medicine in the United States of America. USMLE stands for the United States Medical Licensing Examination and is quite self-explanatory; you write the exam before you can be licensed as a physician in the US.
The USMLE step 1, in particular, evaluates your basic knowledge of medical principles. To pass the exam, you must have an understanding of diseases, principles of treatment and mechanisms of action of underlying physiological processes.
You can write this exam when you are fresh out of medical school, but medical students in the US can opt to take the exam in their third year of medical school when the basics of medicine are still fresh in their brains.
The USMLE Step 1 is the first USMLE exam you take. It is written in one day and lasts for eight whole hours. However, it is partitioned into seven blocks that each last for an hour. At every block, the question may range anywhere from 20-40. So, at the end of the day, the number of questions you write will not exceed 280.
The questions require a good grasp of the basic concepts of medicine, especially the pathological processes. Some of the questions will need you to be able to interpret pictures of pathological specimens.
The questions range from basic medical courses like biochemistry, anatomy and physiology to more complex medical courses such as pathology, immunology, and pharmacology.
You are free to take the USMLE Step 1 as much as six times. However, in 12 months, you can only write it thrice.
From the fourth time, you need to leave at least six months between each try.
The passing score is 194 on a scale of 0-300. You should know that you can only rewrite the USMLE Step 1 if and only if you fail. If you pass, you can't retake it to raise your score.
CanadaQBank can help you get good scores.
The conditions you must fulfill to take the exam differ if you are a US/Canada candidate or a foreign one.
If you are a US/Canada candidate, you must-
● either be a medical student or graduate of a medical school certified by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) or the American Osteopathic Association (AOA)
If you are a foreign candidate, you must -
● be a graduate of a medical school that is on the World Directory of Medical Schools
If you are an international candidate, you apply for the USMLE Step 1 through the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG). When you apply, you should choose the period you want to take the test. After a few days, you’ll receive a scheduling permit which you can then use to schedule a date on the Prometric website. It is on this website that you can choose the day you want to take the test as well as the place.
Be sure to schedule your exam at least six months beforehand.
For candidates in Canada or the United States, the process is very similar to that of international students, except instead of the ECFMG, you apply through the National Board of Medical Examiners (NBME).
